Sam Price attends high school in Amador County. He began his studies of the violin at the age of 5 and currently studies with Lisa Lawson of Sacramento and Ione. In addition to playing the violin Sam plays the oboe and piano. At the age of 11 Sam won the Junior Division of the Mother Lode Friends of Music (MLFM) Young Musicians' Competition and at age 12 won the Novice Division of the Sacramento Section of the American String Teacher's Association Solo Competition. In the spring of 2008 Sam won the MLFM Young Musicians' Competition Senior Division and along with Kevin Mainville on piano, the Ensemble Division, as well as the Sierra Symphony's Young Musician Competition. Sam has received the Outstanding Musician and Outstanding Camper award at Pacific Music Camp. He has played in the Capitol Section Honor Band in Sacramento for 4 years as well as in the Amador and Calaveras Bi-County Honor Band on the oboe. Sam is a Charter member of the Mother Lode Youth Symphony where he has played both violin and oboe. He is currently playing violin in the Sacramento Youth Symphony's Premier Orchestra and the Mother Lode Friends of Music Orchestra and has played with the Sierra Symphony. When he is not practicing his music, Sam enjoys listening to all types of music and working on his computer.
